It also suits spiced and ethnic dishes such as curries, where the citrus and the touch of chilli round out the plate. Mandarin chutney stands out among fruit preserves, and its softer, sweeter profile makes it an easy first chutney for customers. It works as a gift together with a selection of cheeses and as an add-on to roast meats in the holiday season. The hand-applied label and the Sicilian origin support a premium price point next to the cheese counter.

Mandarin chutney with the floral notes of Sicilian mandarins.
Sicilian mandarins (40%) give this chutney citrus and floral notes and a sweeter, more delicate and velvety profile than the lemon version. It is cooked with cane sugar, onions, white wine vinegar, chilli and salt, and set with fruit pectin. Il Giardino makes it on its family farm near Giarre, in eastern Sicily, with hand-picked seasonal fruit and no preservatives or artificial flavourings.
Format guidance: the 240 g jar suits kitchen use and roasts for several covers. The 98 g jar works for tasting boards and gift sets. The return to nature is the heart of our story. Il Giardino is our family's citrus grove in Contrada Rovettazzo, near Giarre, between the sea and Mount Etna: fruit picked by hand, no chemicals, and our grandmother's recipes for marmalades and chutneys.
