Description
Bitter orange marmalade made for the cheese board.
At Il Giardino the family still tells how grandfather Giuseppe persuaded the children to taste a long-aged Sicilian pecorino with a spoonful of this marmalade. That pairing defines the product: a classic made with cane sugar and bitter oranges, with 40 g of fruit in every 100 g, where the bitterness of the peel balances the sweetness. It is produced by Il Giardino, a family farm near Giarre in eastern Sicily, with hand-picked seasonal fruit and no preservatives or artificial flavourings.
For restaurants and chefs. Serve it with aged pecorino and other mature cheeses as a finishing touch on the cheese trolley, where the bitter note cuts through salt and fat. The producer also suggests fresh, buttery cheeses such as ricotta and fresh Asiago, yogurt, and bread and butter, so the same jar covers breakfast and the cheese course. It can also glaze a fruit tart or complete a pastry plate.
For specialty and Italian stores. Bitter orange marmalade has a loyal audience among customers who find standard orange jam too sweet. The pecorino pairing gives staff a simple suggestion at the counter and leads naturally to a sale at the cheese counter. Hand-labelled jars from a small Sicilian farm give the shelf an artisanal look and fit well in gift boxes.
Format guidance: the 98 g jar suits individual cheese plates, tasting boards and gift sets. For the cheese trolley and regular retail, the 240 g jar gives more servings per jar.
