Description
A wine jelly made from organic Sicilian Grillo.
Each 100 g uses 51 g of organic white wine (12.5% vol at origin), set with grape sugar and fruit pectin (E440i). The Grillo comes from organic grapes grown in open field and is fresh and fruity, with a fine minerality. All ingredients are organic and Sicilian, with no preservatives or thickeners. Made by Azienda Agricola Mirto in Mazara del Vallo, in the province of Trapani.
For restaurants and chefs. Served cold, a small spoon finishes a cheese course of fresh or aged cheeses. It also works with fish carpaccio, shellfish and tartare, where the wine acidity cuts richness, and as a light dessert with yogurt or artisan gelato. A 100 g jar covers many plates, so it adds a distinctive touch at a low cost per serving.
For specialty and Italian stores. Wine jelly is an unusual product that invites a question and often a tasting. The organic grapes and the clear wine content (51 g per 100 g) make the label easy to explain. It belongs on the cheese counter, sells as an add-on to a cheese purchase, and works in gift boxes with the red wine jelly.
